Niger aids over 1.39 million flood victims this year

NIAMEY, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) — The Nigerien government has assisted 1,397,665 flood victims this year, delivering approximately 97 percent of its aid plan, announced the National Mechanism for the Prevention and Management of Food Crises (DNPGCA) on Wednesday.
Flooding caused by devastating rainfall has affected 1,447,525 people in Niger as of Wednesday.
The DNPGCA has assisted 190,812 households or 1,397,665 flood victims across eight regions. The 15th and 16th batches of aid supplies are currently being processed by Niger’s Food Products Office.
Earlier batches of aid included the distribution of 2,865 mosquito nets, 2,265 blankets, 2,599 plastic mats, 7,201 loincloths, and 900 buckets. ■
