JUST IN FROM AN ESTATE. A FINE PAIR OF STERLING TONGS BY THEODORE B. STARR IN THE KINGS PATTERN WHICH IS THE SAME AS THE GORHAM KINGS III PATTERN. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GORHAM AND STARR TONGS IS THAT THE STARR TONGS HAVE FAR GREATER DETAIL THAN THE GORHAM VERSION. THE STARR TONGS HAVE THE PATTERN ON BOTH THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE TONGS. IN ADDITION, THE GORHAM "CLAWS" ARE VERY PLAIN COMPARED TO STARR'S VERY DETAILED EAGLE/RAPTOR TALONS. THE MONOGRAM APPEARS TO BE "JBS". IN OVERALL EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH THE USUAL PATINA AND FAINT SCRATCHES OF ESTATE SILVER.You can always buy with confidence at the Depot Antique Gallery, both in our brick & mortar store and now in our ebay store.
