Large clawfoot Italian Ornate Tongs. Snail Tongs?

Description

Vintage Antique Clawfoot Tongs.  "Italy"  Non Ferrous.  Center Hinge is somewhat loose.  My guess is that they were snail tongs.   7-1/2" long, clase 1-1/2" wide.  CLaws and item probably too large for sugar tongs.  Looks like the snail tongs I've seen but much more ornate.
