The Castaways Hotel and Casino first opened in 1963 and closed in 1987.
The first two issues of house checks feature the "palm tree". The first set used upon opening were the HCE mold. Almost all examples are cancelled. This chip is the H&C (CJ) second set introduced a year or two later. This issue in all its
denominations
are much more scarce than the first. And likewise almost all examples in the second set are cancelled. This chip was the house check in 1965.
Considered VERY SCARCE with 75 to 150 believed to be extant, almost all cancelled.  Whereas a find of this house check,
uncancelled
and uncirculated has a value of a couple thousand dollars, cancelled examples, even at 10% of that value are still not inexpensive.
The chip's condition is
uncirculated.
